Screenshot Weekly – Cyberflow, Honourbound, Tall Tails

Welcome back to Screenshot Weekly! Every Tuesday, IGM brings you exclusive early looks at upcoming games in various stages of development. The featured image introducing each game will always be original, and made especially for IGM, so you’ll see them for the first time right here! Without further ado, let’s take a look at this week’s screenshots (remember to click the pictures to appreciate them in all their fully-sized glory):

Cyberflow

A 3D arcade game with a classical sci-fi feel, fans of the genre will be ecstatic to hear that solo developer Larissa Davidova describes Cyberflow as “Tron meets Podracer.” Featuring original controls developed specifically for touch screen  devices, the game includes a variety of futuristic and surreal procedurally generated backdrops as players take control of a “Hover Bot” in search of answers about its own creation and purpose. The original controls mentioned include having to control both parts of the Hover Bot simultaneously, with the objective being to avoid obstacles and catch crates within the energy arc tethering both pieces of the vehicle. The game can be seen in action in this trailer, and more information can be found on Larissa’s website. (Where you might say, she “Explains it All.” I’m sorry, I had to…)

Honourbound

According to Andrea Magnorsky, one of the developers at Digital Furnace Games currently working on the project, Honourbound is “a 2D side scrolling beat ’em up where you play a samurai fighting to prevent the forces of Yomi from breaking through the world of the living.” Basically, what that means is players are tasked with preventing unsavory souls damned in the Japanese underworld from returning to the land of the living. Sounds pretty intense, but playing as a samurai during feudal Japan clashing swords against gorgeous backdrops is enough to color me intrigued. The game has a tentative release date of sometime either at the end of this year or early next year, but the intriguing part is that it’s coming to not only PC, but PS4 and Xbox One as well. A trailer for the game can be seen here, and additional details can be found on the newly minted official website.

Tall Tails

The story of Tall Tails is quite a tale indeed, and I’m not just saying that to be cute. (Honest!) This adventure puzzle game tells the story of a rescue pup and his newly adoptive family; upon meeting the family’s other dog, the two discover a magical fairytale grimoire and are accidentally swept up into the story. Now they must journey through a mix of retro, pop-up style art and character animation as they overcome obstacles across 125 levels in search for a way back home. If all that wasn’t enough to warm your heart, the developers at Zuul Labs also mentioned that they plan on donating a portion of the proceeds to rescue dog charities to help raise awareness. But first, they are looking for the community’s support in the form of a Kickstarter campaign, which will launch in May. Be sure to check out the team’s website, as well as their Facebook and Twitter, for more information about Tall Tails.
