Celestial Tear: Demon’s Revenge – Returning To The Roots Of JRPGs

Many feel that the quality of RPG games have taken a long dive, and that gamers are still waiting for a return to entertaining gameplay, with a driving story and interesting characters. White Guardian Studios feels the same way, and they’ve come up with a solution by developing their upcoming title Celestial Tear: Demon’s Revenge.

Set in a sci-fi fantasy world, Celestial Tear promises to bring us to a familiar form of RPG, focusing less on graphics and more on characters, stories, and an immersive world. The game is being developed to balance this with gameplay and presentation, instead of focusing on only one element. Using 2D pixel animation, and motion comic cut scenes, the game intends to tell a story as exciting and memorable as the likes of Final Fantasy 7, Chrono Trigger, and Suikoden 2.

This is a tall order to reach, but the team at White Guardian Studios feels up to the challenge, having refined their skills and combined their experiences. Besides the driving story, the battle system is meant to add a bit of innovation by incorporating the environment to provide advantages or disadvantages depending on the situation. There will also be a day and night system, along with many hidden secrets and lore-related quests.

Celestial Tear: Demon’s Revenge has no definite release date currently besides the fourth quarter of 2015, but I’m looking forward to it nonetheless. The game will be released for PC.
