The ‘Spacecore’ Needs You In Achieving Total Galactic Domination

Howling Moon Games are currently looking for backers for their latest venture in the indie game market. It is interesting to see this previous “casual” studio aiming to go a whole new direction with this Kickstarter project.

The team is full of very skilled individuals who have been working on games since 2008. With the recent opening of Kickstarter UK they believe now is their time to strike. Being partly based over in the UK this will give them a great opportunity of get onto this funding stage.

The name of the game is Spacecore and taking influence from some of the great RTS games of the past  Howling Moon Games hope to combine elements found in them to really create something special.

The premise is simple. You take control over the operations at Spacecore a private inter-planetary defense corporation. Although you must always remember that all of your actions will have far reaching consequences within the game world.

You are expected to fulfill various quotas and challenges in order to stay in good stead with the corporation at large. This can become very challenging as the game develops. Expect a very taxing and ever changing ongoing strategy game in Spacecore.

This all sounds very much like X-Com and that is partly what the guys at Howling Moon Games are aiming for by combining games like X-Com, Starcraft and Total Annihilation they really are shooting for the stars.

There is going to also be tower defense elements to the game which seem to function as the actual missions or “conflict zones” as they are known. Although I am not completely solid on this point it sounds a very interesting mixing of games and genres.

I am indeed looking forward to seeing the game  in action though. I am ever hopeful the studio will bring together all these ideas making a great game.

The team at Howling Moon Games really seem very enthused by this venture being as it takes them far out of the “casual” market they have worked in previously. With a long standing track record for making games I am sure they have the skills and it seems they really have the passion so I expect big things from them on this.
