The Sci-Fi Interactive Theatre to Unveil Episodic, 90s-Themed Gameplay

Does anyone remember “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” the ’90s American show about bad sci-fi movies? If you haven’t, no worries, it’s not required watching. However, a Polish developer is apparently a fan, because his own The Sci-Fi Interactive Theatre is harking back to the good old 20th century. Jakub “Koobismo” Riedel (known for making comics about Mass Effect 3) just announced the PC game.

The Sci-Fi Interactive Theatre is a text-driven, episodic series. Set in space and appropriately sci-fied, the player will read through a lot of narrative, figuring out the story. Decisions and dialogue trees are present, and alongside that are mostly puzzles and some light action sequences. Each episode will feature a different hero with a brand new plot, the pieces coming together in a larger narrative scope. All is handled with a mouse interface.

Riedel is planning to periodically release episodes, each featuring about 2-3 hours of gameplay priced in the single digits. The game is mainly a solo job, along with some voice acting he’s contracting. His first goal is to create a small demo of the game, then follow it up with a funding campaign.
