Oh. OH.
The trailer for Tayfun Tuna’s The Orphan Dreams makes it look tame and fun, but looking deeper into some of the screenshots indicates something weird, dark, and frightening is going on. Why is there a barbed-wire fence at this orphanage, and why are there security cameras every few feet? It all seems very innocent at first, but something dreadful seems to be creeping in from behind the scenes as you play through the game’s seemingly-innocent puzzles and combat. Bouncing between a dream and the real world, and filled with hidden areas and secrets, the developer promises there is a whole lot more to the game than one might expect. With no checkpoints or lives, though, most players might not live to unveil those secrets.
Tayfun Tuna has taken his personal vision to Steam Greenlight, looking for votes to get it through. Its looks are deceiving unless the player is willing to pay really close attention to it, so consider giving it a chance if you’re willing to work at seeing the hidden narrative underneath the cute exterior. There’s something especially wrong when something this dark happens around children, and it will be interesting to see the true events underneath a world that seems glossed over by a child’s hope and imagination.
