‘Maia’ Support Goes Into Overdrive With The Indie Hug Bundle Added
Earlier in the week I posted about Maia the new game from indie developer Simon Roth. Maia has been one of the Kickstarters that for some unknown reason really has been struggling over its time to really gain any traction in the popular crowd funding platform.
It really seems odd, especially due to all the highly positive press it has attracted from Rock Paper Shotgun, Eurogamer and of course The Indie Game Magazine. Besides all these write ups and great hype the public has seemed a little hesitant to put the money up for the game with the Kickstarter as of the 20th of November only just passing the halfway mark of its £100 000 plea.
The past few days has seen the indie community rallying around Maia which has pushed it up to just shy of £69 000 (at time of writing) which really is a phenomenal accomplishment for the short time frame.
Friday saw Simon Roth get a great deal of support from fellow indie developers The Indie Stone, Terry Cavanagh, Puppy Games, Rob Fearon, and Dull Dude. All these developers combined efforts and now offer you The Indie Hug Bundle in conjunction with Maia.
For just £56 ($90 approx) you will get Maia along with a whole host of other goodies and of course The Indie Hug Bundle, which will contain five fantastic titles which are:
- Project Zomboid
- VVVVVV
- Revenge Of The Titans
- Death Ray Manta
- Battle Cave
The saga of Maia really is unfolding to be a real roller-coaster journey for Simon Roth and no doubt the rest of the indie community. The future of Maia is still uncertain but with the huge push that Maia has received over this past week it has started to gain traction. Really going into over drive on Friday I am still hopeful that the project will reach its goal by Wednesday.
Considering all that Maia has had going for it the fledgling numbers of backers really does surprise me a great deal. Or is the world not ready for a new Dungeon Keeper type game?
If you like the idea of Maia and have loved the Bullfrog classics of the 90s it really is time to put your money where you mouth is and now with more reasons to back than ever consider giving what you can to Simon Roth.
Back Maia on Kickstarter here.
