Indie Intermission – Pop It Lock It, ‘Pop N Spawn’ It

If like me you think the one thing missing from strategy these days is mushrooms than you may be in luck. I hear the nay sayers saying ” but what is strategic about mushrooms” well as it turns out a fair amount really. Of course games don’t have to follow any strict logic or adhere to principles of the real world so the more strange the more fun.

Pop N Spawn is the latest game from Big Round Eyes and is a browser based strategy game in which you are able to play against the computer or other human opponents. The bots are quite well balanced and do get increasingly more difficult as you progress where as humans are -as you may expect – a whole other ball game.

I just found myself getting pummelled by them, I really was subject to some tough love after having quite an easy time of it from the AI. But as you fail you learn and adapt their strategies and hopefully eventually win.

Pop N Spawn is a game that outwardly looks very charming and quite simple but after playing just a few games you find that you really do have to really think about your moves and how you progress across the board.

Average play time – 5 minutes

A very well made browser based game that will have you scratching your head as you try to learn new tactics and take down rivals in this online battle arena. Well designed with a fun solo mode but is largely lacking players online sadly.
