‘Dustforce’ Will Be Coming To Both Mac And Linux Shortly

Yesterday marked the release of Hitbox Team’s debut 2D platformer, Dustforce, but currently it is only available on Steam and for Windows PC’s only, leaving Mac and Linux users in the lurch as is often the case.

Hitbox have previously said that they intend to bring Dustforce to Mac users and that it will be available on Steam. There is no release date for the Mac version as of yet but we do know that Hitbox have said it will be soon after the initial release of the game on Steam. Essentially, Mac users can expect the game to be available for them to purchase very shortly.

On the other hand, poor Linux users seemed to have been forgotten about as happens far too often. Indie game developers have made a good effort to ensure that their games are available across all three of the major PC platforms though. A good example of this is the Humble Bundle – one of the requirements for a game to be part of a Bundle is that it is available on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Hitbox have recognised the demand from Linux users for games and have consequently made the decision to bring the platformer to them too. The better news is that a Linux version is already in the works, as the Mac version is, and should be expected within the coming weeks. Of course, the Linux version will not be coming to Steam, but Hitbox have reportedly said that the plan is to release it on Desura.
