Coffee Stain Studios Reveals New Towers For ‘Sanctum 2’
Sanctum 2 is a tower-defense game with a first-person shooter twist. Like Sanctum 1 before it, the players team up to build a maze that waves of increasingly tougher enemies will try to cross in order to destroy the players’ core. While the tower-defense mechanics are similar to those of the genre, the first-person perspective makes operate like a whole new beast.
In Sanctum 2, Coffee Stain Studios is introducing towers that were originally planned for the previous game, but were scrapped due to restricted time and money.
The Focus Laser is a continuously firing laser fit for melting through the toughest armor. The beam becomes stronger and thicker the longer it focuses on the same target. This makes it extremely effective on large enemy types, but ineffective on smaller and quicker enemies.
The Amp Spire is more of s a support tower. It increases the damage done by nearby towers by producing a field around it. This piece could be a total game changer and make your mazes that you build change from ineffective to indestructible.
The Cannon Tower is what Coffee Stain is calling their “most versatile tower” in that its properties change what kind of enemies it is effective against when it’s upgraded. On lower levels it fires quick shots that are good for taking out small and medium sized enemies. When it’s upgraded, it becomes more effective on the larger creatures. Deciding which ones to upgrade will be important because changing the properties of a tower will affect how effective the rest of your gauntlet is.
