Codename: ‘Eggcopter’ Looks To Update A 90s Classic
Aspiring indie developer Pedro Madrugo, currently a college student from Portugal has recently put up a heartfelt plea onto Indiegogo with regards to his latest idea for a game. Madrugo is aiming to develop an Ugh! for the modern generation.
I for one missed the original Ugh! back in the nineties, but I was still new to gaming back then so this is expected. In Ugh! you operate as a caveman sky taxi service, it is a rather interesting concept really. The aim is to ferry the people to the different exits on the level. Levels get progressively more difficult as you carry on with more obstacles and exits amongst other things to hinder your progression.
Ugh! seems to of made quite the impression on Madrugo and he is hoping that people in the modern age of gaming still enjoy playing titles like this. As he states in his video that he feels there is a gap in the modern market, not being able to find any new Ugh! clones.
His Indiegogo project is a very modest $1 200 which is mostly to pay for this studies along with upgrading some of his equipment, so he will largely be doing this off his own back unpaid.
He is only helped by his girlfriend who is developing the art for the game to give Madrugo a bit of a respite from all the design.
The game does look very interesting, it is a concept I have not seen used really at all and would like to see completed in all its glory. Madrugo has so far developed eight different stages in time which will appear as the backdrop for this game and include: Prehistoric, Classical (Greek/ Roman), Medieval, Renaissance, Industrial, etc.
If you are interested in seeing this project come to life I do implore you to head over to his Indiegogo page here and donate whatever you can to help make this game a reality.
