SMX

The mod aims to bring the game’s vanilla UI to modern standards by adding various improvements that should have arguably been present since the beginning. Some of the highlights include reworked unit frames with custom textures, reworked compass, custom XP display, HUD with indicators for elevation and temperature, reworked quest tracker, and more.
War of the Walkers

By far one of the most popular mods, War of the Walkers is a complete overhaul of the game that introduces tons of new features. Now, you could wait until the developers finally get around to it or you could just grab this mod instead. HDHQ Overhaul adds brand new 2K/4K textures throughout the game while also improving the lighting engine. In addition to making the game look much prettier, the mod also adds a number of new items, including quite a few weapon skins.
Level 200 Skill Cap

This mod is a bit simpler when compared to the ones we’ve discussed so far but its impact on your gameplay is not to be underestimated. The mod does exactly what it says and raises the cap of all the skills in the game up to 200. Perk levels are also increased and, even more importantly, the mod also raises the maximum player level up to a whopping 1000.
Simple UI

If you feel like SMX’s UI changes are a bit much, there’s another mod that brings some simpler, yet still very important, changes to the game’s user interface. Meet Simple UI. This mod’s aim isn’t to completely overhaul the UI but rather enhance by adding extra HUD bars, a reworked toolbelt, increasing player built storage, adding a zombie kill counter, and more. There’s also a version called Simple UI Plus for players who want a bigger backpack.
Die Till Day 7
This is one of the best mod for players who enjoy complete overhauls. This expansive mod brings to the table an absolute truckload of new additions to the game. These range from things like new weapons, armors, and enemies to experience boosts, books, new ammo types, and so much more. The mod also makes significant changes to professions and offers a brand new way of experiencing the single-player component. It would take ages to list everything this mod adds so it’s better to just grab it and check it out for yourself.
The Walking Dead Mod

This one is pretty self-explanatory. As you’ve probably guessed right way, this mod aims to make 7 Days to Die feel more like the hit TV series The Walking Dead. The mod achieves that by carefully balancing certain aspects of the game in order to create a Walking Dead themed survival experience. For example, zombies are slower and easier to kill with well-placed headshots. Meanwhile, ammo is even rarer and loot is harder to find. Essentially, the mod forces the player to take a slower and more deliberate approach as they try to survive in the new walker-infested world.
Farming

All the guns feature custom animations, audio effects, and custom ammo. In addition, players can also modify the weapons, so this is pretty much the entire package. This mod came out just a few months ago and is a follow-up to the original Firearms mod.
Epic Cities

Epic Cities is quite small in terms of file size but it is one of the biggest 7 Days to Die mods out there in terms of scope. This mod transforms the game’s primarily rural map into a sprawling urban landscape. Thanks to the mod, your map will look like an interconnected network of large cities that cover almost the entire surface of the world. It’s pretty much just an endless city filled with large buildings and even a good number of skyscrapers. The only disadvantage of this mod is that it won’t work with your current saves so you’ll need to start a new game in order to experience it.
30K Stacks

This one is very straightforward and pretty self-explanatory. What this simple mod does is just allow you to stack most items and certain blocks up to 30,000. Some blocks are hardcoded and their default size can’t exceed 500 but you can stack all the other ones. That’s pretty much all there is to it. Not a huge change at first glance but one that can have a big impact on your gameplay regardless.
Survival Zombie Apocalypse

This mod is fairly similar to the Walking Dead one mentioned earlier in the sense that it changes enemies from nuclear mutant zombies to a more classic version. Namely, the new zombies are much weaker to headshots and do slightly less damage. Certain types of zombies have been removed, including ferals, screamers, and all animal variants, among others. Soviet Pack

A nice little mod that adds a bunch of new Soviet-themed items, many of which have been inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe. There are 17 new weapons to collect, including the AKM, AK74, Makarov, AK Bayonet, Spetsnaz Machete, and more. In addition, you can also look forward to a couple of new scope attachments along with some other useful items like canteens, binoculars, and of course, vodka. Basically, the goal here is to make you feel like 7 Days to Die is either set in the USSR or you’re a former Soviet special agent trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. The way you want to role-play this is up to you.
