Uphold Ultimate Crimson Blood’s Honor in Murder Dog
I love bizarre, insane games. So, when I hear that Astrojone are working on a concept that was originally co-produced with Tales of Game’s, developer of The Magical Realms of Tír na nÓg: Escape from Necron 7 – Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie – Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa (Yes, that’s one title), and conceptualized by thecatamites, developer of the deranged Mouse Corp, I take notice. With little more than a story teaser to go on, what is Astrojone’s Murder Dog: Hayashi no Gaia: C.R.Y.S.T.A.L? Short answer: I don’t know.
The game does have the weird sense of humor I’ve come to expect from these developers. Will Murder Dog’s Chaotic Murder alignment affect his ability to do his job, or will his intense hatred of crime, birthed from his time in the Crimean Wars see him through? Will Police Chief be able to enforce justice while his wife suffers from Bad Blood? And what of the flower developed by Dr Tetsuo Ube? Will it cure Drugs Fever, or will Murder Dog be unable to stop it from overwhelming the city? Why do orcs have the bridge? Does anyone at Astrojone know that the Crimean War was a real war or do they just think this is funny anyway? None of these questions are answered by the trailer, but they did show that the game’s story is completely nuts.
The trailer is still for a game that the developers are only picking at while they finish up Buck & Miles, but it looks like a fun laugh at the expense of old, poorly-translated NES games with over-the-top stories. I’m curious about the gameplay, but for now, the trailer has me excited to start doing some real good on the streets of Cactus City. Or Murder City. I’m not sure, and neither is the game.
