‘Ski Ranger’ Beta Now Released
The developers behind the motion sensor controlled skiing game, Ski Ranger, have now released the public beta and are looking for feedback.
Anyone with an interest in motion controlled gaming may have been turned off by the kinds of games that the corporate sectors of the industry are releasing, but there are many indie developers out there experimenting with the tech and coming up with much more enjoyable experiences. One such example is Ski Ranger – it’s a simple downhill skiing game made fun with a combination of arcade gameplay and motion controls.
Ski Ranger is actually a party game at its core as you play a ranger of the slopes who must complete different challenges so as to maintain law and order. You’ll have to race, chase and dodge snowballs on your trip down. Ski Ranger is compatible with both the Asus XtionPRO and Microsoft Kinect though you’ll have to find the right drivers and put in a little more effort to make it work on the latter as the developers cannot officially support it.
At the current moment in time the developers have put a lot of work into the game and want some feedback on it, thus they have released the public beta. This contains the Time Trail and Big Air modes that each come with a track, you can download it from one of the many mirrors on this page.
More information on Ski Ranger can be found on the game’s official website.
