Bit.Trip Studio Renames, Reveals Two New Titles

Early concept art for Laserlife

The studio behind the wickedly popular Bit.Trip series, Gaijin Games, announced this week that they will now be known as “Choice Provisions.” The decision comes with the hope to rebrand themselves with maturity and to remove any negative connotations associated with the term “gaijin.” The Gaijin Games name still lives on however, and will be the name the studio uses behind any future Bit.Trip games.

Looking at the future, Choice Provisions have announced two new titles in the works under their new name. The first is Laserlifea “metaphysical journey of euphoric sights and euphonic sounds,” and Choice Provisions says it will be a “high concept” science-fiction exploration game.

The second is another science fiction title– this time one that had the studio visit SpaceX for “recon.” Named after the Martian region, Tharsis is a realistic, perma-death TBS with dice. Players will be put into the first manned journey to Mars right when a catastrophic asteroid strikes. More mystery and danger lurks on the planet’s surface however; the rescue mission will not be easy.

Both games are still in early concept, however, and probably won’t see release for some time, but you can still keep up with development as news comes out over on Choice Provisions’ blog, or right here on IGM.
