Feist, A Shady Limbo-Esque Action-Adventure

For those who thought that Limbo was too calm or slow for their play-style, it’s time to meet Feist. The game is slightly more colorful than the former, and has a completely different idea for how intense platforming should be. Designed by the Swiss studio, Bits & Beasts, Feist intends to be a beautiful and frenetic game at the same time.

The player controls a small, furry creature living in a mysterious world. Set in a dark and and spooky atmosphere, the player must control this creature and defeat wild monsters that will get in the way during their adventure through forests, swamps, and caves. While the forefront is presented as shadows, including the protagonist and enemies, the landscapes are monochromatic and change according to the environment.

The evil creatures are merciless; instead of having determined movements, they are all controlled by AI and it’s nearly impossible to predict their movements and actions, and this is the same for traps scattered throughout the different stages. These can also trigger some physics-based secondary effects, and may surprise the player during their run. The only way to avoid it is to take advantage of the same physics with weapons and items.

Feist may resemble Limbo, but it’s aiming to add a fast-paced action touch to the formula. The game is set to be released on July 23 for PC, Mac, and Linux through Steam. Further information can be found on the game’s website.
