‘Guns of Icarus’ Devs Supporting Hurricane Sandy Victims
Last week, as Hurricane Sandy wrecked the North-Eastern quarter of the United States, Muse Games found themselves in quite the predicament. Their game, Guns of Icarus, was set to launch, and many members of the team were right in the middle of Sandy’s path. Team members lost internet, power, or both, as the storm locked down the Northeast.
Once the storm passed, the members of Muse Games saw the destruction the storm caused with their own eyes. Seeing the communities come together to help one another recover, inspired the team to do what they can to raise money to benefit their home-city of New York, through the New York Cares charity.
Muse Games developed two exclusive in-game items for Guns of Icarus that they will sell to players, with 100% of the proceeds going to the New York Cares charity. Both items (the Nightingale Cap, and Dr. Scnnabel’s Mask) are purely cosmetic, but look really cool.
“We have a responsibility to do all we can,” says CEO Howard Tsao. “We quickly realized the best way we can mobilize people to help is through our game. Right now, especially with the snowstorm that just hit the Northeast again, people are still without power and in need of basic things such as blankets and baby supplies in addition to food and water. With the items we create, we hope they can make a difference for those who really need help.”
The Muse Games team have been working from home, where they can, since the hurricane hit. Their offices still do not have internet. The items are available for purchase in-game.
