‘Capsized’ Developers Release First Look At Stylized Greek Platformer ‘Apotheon’

Today, Alientrap Games released a first look at their latest game, Apotheon, the game which they have been working on since releasing Capsized over a year ago.

To go along with the announcement, Alientrap Games released the first gameplay video of Apotheon and a batch of screenshots to mark the occasion.

Apotheon is a stylish, 2D platformer action RPG, set within the rich stage of ancient Greek mythology. In Apotheon, Hera, the queen of Olympus, has overthrown Zeus, her husband, and taken over as ruler of the Gods. Hera is bitter and scornful towards mortals and launches a murderous campaign to erase them from existence.

Players take control of humanity’s last champion. The journey ahead of them is filled with danger as they must pass through the land of the dead, infiltrate Mount Olympus, and end the wrath of the Gods.  Armed only with a sword, spear, and shield, players will have to sneak, conspire, loot, and of course battle, their way though majestic palaces and underworld depths, as they make their way towards Olympus’ throne.

Along with the epic single-player campaign, Alientrap Games also plans to include multiplayer functionality, featuring team deathmatch and other team-based game modes.

Currently in development for Steam, Apotheon has an intended release date of 2013.
