IGM Forum Finds: A Quiver of Crows
Shmup games like Assault Android Cactus and Wrack tend to feature inorganic creations, like robots, androids, and horrifying mechanical spiders. It’s rare to see any sort of shooter with an organic theme, let alone a twin-stick shooter. A Quiver of Crows (by Sheado Games, the creators of Eras of Alchemy) looks to bring twin-stick shooters and shmups into the outside world. With AI enemies and stark contrast between characters and background, A Quiver of Crows is as much an art piece as it is a game.
Rather than being an auto-scrolling game like many 2-D shmups, in this game the player will have more control over where they move and how quickly they choose to navigate the levels. While enemies may continue spawning if you take too long in one area, that’s not set in stone, yet. Windows PC, Mac, and Linux users will all be able to enjoy this game, which features power-ups and weapon customization, as well as a leveling system to strengthen abilities. While the creatures featured in the game may not be those you’d find around you in real life, they all contain elements of things you may encounter in nature, such as a “skelecrane” boss, or flying eyeball enemies. Organic elements abound in A Quiver of Crows, fantastical or not.
