“Primordia” Preorders Begin Today
Primordia, a new post-apocalyptic PC adventure game, developed by Wormwood Studios, and published by Wadjet Eye, will be released on December 5th, but is available for pre-order starting today. Primordia is a post-apocalyptic point-and-click adventure, telling the story of robot Horatio Nullbuilt (Wormwood Studios, you had me hooked at this name. You didn’t even have to say narrative-driven point-and-click adventure), his sidekick Crispin and their adventure searching for an airship power core in the city of Metropol.
Normally, a game with a publisher seems like the opposite of indie, but we’ll make an exception for the awesome indie producers Wadjet Eye Games, the team behind Puzzle Bots, Gemini Rue and the Blackwell series, among others. Actually, IGM’s written lots about Wadjet Eye Games’ previous titles, and Alex Wilkinson recently blogged about Primordia and shared the trailer, and Mike Gnade met with Wadjet Eye’s Dave Gilbert about Wadjet Eye’s past and future projects.
Primordia will be released as a PC download on December 5, 2012, but preorders open today. Wadjet Eye has two preorder deals from now until the release.
Digital Download: For $8.99, customers can reserve a DRM-free copy of Primordia, and this digital preorder includes an MP3 game soundtrack, with music from Nathaniel Chambers.
Limited Edition DVD: For $19.99, customers can get the digital version on December 5th, plus a DVD version of Primordia, the MP3 soundtrack, the game’s concept art, a behind-the-scenes video with voice recording footage, and other goodies. Wadjet Eye says the limited edition DVD will only be sold during the preorder period, and does expect to ship these before the holidays.
Primordia has just been declined by Steam, which is a bit surprising to me because Steam does offer several other Wadjet Eye titles. Interestingly, one of the topics Mike and Dave chatted about was Steam’s initial rejection of Wadjet Eye Games’ Gemini Rue, and what Dave and his team did to eventually get it released on Steam.
