War Thunder is a free-to-play cross-platform, massively multiplayer military vehicle shooter available for PC, PS4 Mac, and Linux. The guys behind the game at Gaijin Entertainment are always looking to improve the game with their audience in mind, and are hoping the title’s newest update will prove a testament to that mentality.
Update 1.47 is now live (the full list of patch notes can be found here), and is better known as the ‘Big Guns’ update in the War Thunder community. The update introduces some of the biggest vehicles from WWII into the game, including the B29 Superfortress, with a wingspan larger than some modern airliners, and the super heavy Pz. Kpfw. VIII Maus tank, which weighed 188 tons.
Players will also come across brand new terrains for ground combat, such as tanks moving quicker over roads and slowing down and starting to chew up earth when they hit dirt and mud. This adds a brand new element to the ground forces of War Thunder that players didn’t have to think about until now. Small details like this ensure the game is as historically accurate as possible, something the team marks as a high priority.
