For the first time ever outside of Japan, players will get access to UmiharaKawase Shun Steam Edition, a physics-based retro puzzle platformer. Created by programmer Kiyoshi Sakai and character designer and illustrator Toshinobu Kondo, the game is the third and final release of the classic franchise that began in 1997.
UmiharaKawase Shun Steam Edition stands apart from other platformers by using a rope-and-grapple mechanic in the form of a fishing lure and line. The line is elastic, allowing players to swing in order to reach ledges and climb up. Controlling the line by either tightening it or giving it more slack provides a degree of maneuverability to catapult across the level. To ease some of the frustration of these challenging levels, the game offers a practice mode with a quick-retry feature. For those players seeking to enter the global ranking for fastest time, this will be a very useful feature to start with.
UmiharaKawase Shun Steam Edition will be available on November 27th for PC. This release will include UmiharaKawase Shun Second Edition and UmiharaKawase Shun Second Edition Kanzenban!. For more information on this game, follow the developers on Twitter, or “like” the Facebook page.
