Tiny Dangerous Dungeons: A Miniature Metroidvania

Finnish game developer Jussi Simpanen – also known as Adventure Islands – is taking us back to the Game Boy era with his exploration adventure title Tiny Dangerous Dungeons. Players will walk in the shoes of Timmy, a little treasure hunter who must travel through a series of dungeons, solving puzzles and defeating creepy creatures including bats, frogs and skulls. His aim is to reach the final hidden treasure chest, which lays beyond a minefield of multi-tiered platforming goodness.

As the 4 color, monochromatic retro style visuals suggest, Tiny Dangerous Dungeons draws inspiration from classic Game Boy era games, and includes a chiptune soundtrack which boosts the feeling of nostalgia. The game features hidden ability upgrades which help with accessing new areas, including a power glove that helps Timmy maneuver heavy objects, and a throwing knife that he can unleash upon enemies. Health is represented via hearts in the top left hand corner of the screen, but players need not worry if they take a few hits thanks to the carefully positioned checkpoints that save game progress.

Tiny Dangerous Dungeons will be releasing on the App Store on April 2 for just $0.99 USD.
