The Best Indie iOS And Android Games Of 2012: RPG & Adventure

The year 2012 had many good games, so many that we’ve decided to break up the best iOS and Android apps by genre! We’re days away from entering a new year, and unlike many sites out there, we waited till the last possible minute so we could check out all the indie games releasing in late December (and a few of them made the lists too!). So over the next couple days we’ll be releasing lists of our favorite games of 2012.  If you disagree with any of our picks feel free to leave a comment below and tell us what indie game you thought should have been included! Squids Wild WestSquids Wild West – iOS ($1.99)

SQUIDS Wild West has a unique mix of action strategy and RPG: build your team of heroes for challenging turn-based battles against corrupted crabs and shrimp! This sequel is even better than the original, with many surprises in store: devious new enemies, four new playable characters, and nearly twice as many levels. You can even ride seahorses into battle!

Saturday Morning RPGSaturday Morning RPG – iOS (Free)

The game follows the story of Martin “Marty” Hall, an average high school student who has been gifted a powerful ability to channel magic through everyday objects. With his newfound powers Marty has inadvertently attracted the ire of the world’s most heinous villain – the evil Commander Hood. This leads Marty into a series of dangerous plans that he must unravel to save the world (several times!).

LiliLili – iOS ($2.99)

Lili is a quirky adventure RPG hybrid with stunning visuals, silky-smooth graphics and a cinematic storyline. Tuned for new devices, Lili is one of the most visually-stunning games available on iOS. On the mysterious island of Geos, Lili will meet a number of hilarious locals, explore beautiful environments, solve some puzzles, and even challenge an oppressive regime or two along her way. Lili uses an amusing “non-combat” system for dealing with enemies, and sorts out a few personal issues along the way.

Devil's AttorneyDevil’s Attorney – iOS ($2.99), Android ($0.99)

Devil’s Attorney is a turn-based strategy game set in the 80’s where you play as Max McMann, a defense attorney that’s high on charm but low on moral fiber. Your objective is to free all of your clients and use the money you earn to buy accessories and new furniture for your apartment; boosting your ego and unlocking new courtroom skills in the process.

McPixelMcPixel – iOS ($2.99), Android ($2.99)

Saving the day the McPixel way! McPixel is a save-the-day guy that you guide through 100 short challenges in an oldschool point’n’click fashion. The goal in each challenge is to prevent stuff from blowing up using available tools! You have only 20 seconds to save the day! Think quick!

ArrangerArranger – iOS ($0.99)

Quest through an opus of interactive puzzles in Arranger, a magically musical retro puzzle adventure. Developed and composed by talented musician Arman Bohn, this epic quest contains a huge cast of weird characters and fantastic environments. Arranger is a combination of magical fantasy RPG, madcap minigame collective, and classically old school adventure game.
