The year 2012 had many good games, so many that we’ve decided to break up the best iOS and Android apps by genre! We’re days away from entering a new year, and unlike many sites out there, we waited till the last possible minute so we could check out all the indie games releasing in late December (and a few of them made the lists too!). So over the next couple days we’ll be releasing lists of our favorite games of 2012. Fingle – iOS ($1.99) Explore the intimate touch of each others fingers with Fingle’s two-player puzzles. Break the ice or engage friends to get awkwardly close. Two players drag up to five buttons of one color onto their matching targets; their movement makes it impossible to avoid contact, creating intimate moments with intertwined hands.
Ring Fling – iOS ($2.99) Ring Fling is a fun and simple game to play with friends and family. Fling rings to knock stars into your opponents’ goal. Simply swipe to fling and hold to charge. Pick the right play style for you. Save rings for critical situations or throw caution to the wind in an all-out assault. Charge your rings like a patient zen master or fling fast and ferociously. Play on either a 2 or 4 goal board with human and AI players a alike. Customize the gameplay experience by choosing your favorite unlockable gameplay modifiers and picking the right level of strategy for the situation.
O. – iOS ($1.99) Pirouette your fingers across the board, grabbing balls in one colour to keep your chain going while disrupting your opponent’s efforts. Your hands collide as you reach for the same ball and you roar with rage as they hog all the pink ones! Rack up points by sticking to one colour: the more you get in a row the more they’re worth.
Bloop – Tabletop Finger Frenzy – iOS ($0.99)
Bloop is a fast, frantic touch game for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Two, three, or four players race to tap the most tiles…at the same time! Easy at first, but soon the tiles shrink. Hands collide. Fingers cross. Fireworks! Each color plays a unique BLOOP sound. Hear your symphonic success or dissonant disaster. Bloop is a great ice breaker, so bring this onomatopoeic adventure to your next party!
Spaceteam – iOS (Free)
Do you like pushing buttons and shouting at your friends? Do you like discharging Clip-jawed Fluxtrunions? If you answered yes, or no, then you might have what it takes to be on a Spaceteam. Spaceteam is a cooperative party game for 2 to 4 players who shout technobabble at each other until their ship explodes. Each player needs an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
Orbit1 – iOS (Free)
Orbit1 is a hyper-competitive multiplayer game played with just one button. Orbit1 is a simple-to-learn game with unique controls: just one button to fly, dive and turn your ship around the arena. Collect green orbs to score points, and avoid the red enemies.
OLO is an addictive game of skill and strategy, a new generation social board game for all ages. Play with up to three friends or play online against anyone, anywhere. The aim is to get as many of your OLOs into your target zone. Use cunning techniques to outmanoeuvre your opponent and claim victory, but beware the death finger!
TicToe Fury – iOS ($1.99)
TicToe Fury is the best variation of the original Tic Tac Toe, it involves clever strategic thinking. We reinvented your favorite childhood game and took it to a whole new level. Once you start playing, it will for sure become one of your ‘must have apps’. TicToe Fury is designed in an extraordinary way that will make you want to play for hours straight.
Equator – iOS ($4.99)
Combine your problem solving skills to find the same total in this two player puzzle game. Thoughtful playtime with friends or little ones. Join North and South in their quest to balance out the Globe. The goal is simple: you and your partner have to make the same total using different sets of numbers (fruits): for instance, making 7 using 5+2 and 8-1.
