When one thinks about the 80’s a lot of things come to mind: the music, the hair, the introduction of the action trinity: Schwarzenegger, Stalone, and Van Damme. Enter Night City Assault, a sprite-based beat ‘em up from Extra Mile Games brings everything from the 80’s into one action, suspense and drama filled game. Players step into the shoes of detective Roy Silver and Cindy Chan as they find themselves deep within gang territory while searching for a missing detective. Roy and Cindy have no choice but to fight their way through to find out what is going on in their city.
Players can dive into a story-based campaign either on their own or with a friend in co-op mode. While hitting the street, players will encounter citizens in distress who offer up missions. This is important as players will level up from experience earned, allowing them to serve up justice with new moves and abilities. The City is a vast and dangerous place filled with over 20 unique enemies and bosses. Players will have the freedom to move around levels and enter open buildings, where they can find nostalgia items for extra rewards. Roy and Cindy won’t have to just rely on their punches and kicks; they’ll be able to equip and store weapons they find throughout the city.
Night City Assault is currently on Kickstarter and is expected to be released in 2016 on PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One and PS4. To learn more about the game and its developer Extra Mile Games, visit the studio’s website, “like” them on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter.
