Screenshot Weekly – Assassin’s Crin, Mark of the Old Ones, Ninja Spirit

ScreenshotWeeklyWelcome back to Screenshot Weekly! Every Tuesday, IGM brings you exclusive early looks at upcoming games in various stages of development. The featured image introducing each game will always be original, and made especially for IGM, so you’ll see them for the first time right here! Without further ado, let’s take a look at this week’s screenshots (remember to click the pictures to appreciate them in all their fully-sized glory):

Assassin’s Crin

sc3As our first feature for the week, we’ve got an Assassin’s Creed demake that was developed for the Mini Ludum Dare 50 game jam. Created by Oddly Shaped Pixels, Assassin’s Crin has players assume the role of Altzio, who must eliminate targets and escape guards as quickly as possible. True to its inspiration, Altzio can also take cover inside hay-carrying chariots, jump across rooftops, and even bribe guards to look the other way. Killing innocents is frowned upon and will result in losing precious time, while successful assassinations will unlock new abilities. Those curious can give the game a try on the developer’s page.

Mark of the Old Ones

hub(1)A 2.5D Metroidvania physics platformer from the team at Hit the Sticks,  Mark of the Old Ones takes inspiration from the classics, Metroid and The Legend of Zelda, and blends them with the mythos of HP Lovecraft. Gameplay centers around Mogal, a jellyfish-like creature that can manipulate its mass and use its tendrils to push, pull, and manipulate the surrounding objects. Mogal’s abilities also include slowing down time, and the creature is a master of magnetism in its own right. The game is currently looking for support on Kickstarter, and is in the final two weeks of its campaign.

Ninja Spirit

exclusive_screenshotNinja Spirit is a part-time project by three teammates, two developers and a designer to be exact. One of the developers, Ilyes Belfekih, has been developing iOS titles for four years now, using the 2D game engine known as cocos2d. According to Ilyes, the game is about 60% finished and will hopefully release within the next couple months. At this point, the story synopsis is brief: The protagonist is a man named Carl who recently graduated from college. His parents divorced when he was younger, and while he went to live with his mother, his brother went off with the father and the two sides never met again. After Carl’s mother passes away, he journeys to find his brother and father, and that’s where the adventure begins.
