Saturday Spotlight – Easy Checkers (GameTop)

Saturday Spotlight is a promotional series that offers publishers and game hosting sites the opportunity to have one of their games mentioned in a news post on Indie Game Magazine. Each post is sponsored by the publisher mentioned in the headline and as part of the article’s outro.

Did you know: Checkers goes by a few different names depending on what part of the world it is being played in. It’s known as “English draughts” in the UK, and referred to as checkers in the US and Canada. In other parts of the world, it is sometimes referred to as either “American checkers” or “straight checkers”. But no matter what it’s called, the same core rules and gameplay mechanics apply.

Checkers is played on an 8×8 checkered board, with players sitting opposite each other. Online, in versions such as Easy Checkers, the game is played against a computer opponent. The same rules apply, with pieces moving and capturing only on diagonals. Unlike most games against real-life opponents though, Easy Checkers also comes with a move undo feature, to avoid disastrous decisions.

Easy Checkers is free to download, requiring a 3MB install. It is compatible with Windows PCs, and can afterwards be easily uninstalled from the Windows Control Panel.

GameTop is a sponsor of Indie Game Magazine. According to their official statement, “ offers high quality games for Windows and Mac users. The games are offered free, without in-game ads or malware. 100% trusted and safe.” Any publisher or game hosting site interested in inquiring about booking a slot on Saturday Spotlight should send an email to
