Primal Carnage: Extinction has officially launched on the PS4. The game is a class-based online multiplayer shooter. Built on the Unreal Engine, it is “the only game allowing users to play as dinosaurs.” Primal Carnage launched on Steam in 2012 for Windows, followed by Primal Carnage: Extinction earlier this year.
Players can choose from multiple dinosaurs to take on human mercenaries, or join the humans with a huge arsenal of weapons as they struggle for survival. There are multiple gameplay modes to explore. Team Deathmatch allows an all out, chaotic battle between humans and dinosaurs, Get to the Chopper sees humans attempt to reach safety against dinosaurs determined to stop them, and Survival contains endless waves of AI dinosaurs the players must try to defeat. The game supports between 1 and 16 players. Offline play is also available, as is a Free Roam mode that encourages exploration with no focus on kill counts.
The game comes from Circle 5 Studios, who took over the franchise from Lukewarm Media Inc. Panic Button LLC, founded in 2007 in Austin Texas, is an indie studio brought on board to port the game to PS4, and is known for the Disney Infinity Franchise.
