IGM Forum Finds: Memoreon Tests Your Memory at Lightning Speed

Ever since Simon debuted in 1979, the market for electronic memory games has been expanding and evolving. Match-two card games were even featured in Super Mario Bros. 3 for power ups. The appeal of testing reflexes, and accomplishing a daunting task, is what makes twitch-games so popular. Adding to the eclectic mix of memory and reflex is Memoreon, a mobile game by Firefell Ltd. that pits the player against their own brain in a battle that includes resource management, to boot.

Players are a tiny space probe, exploring the cosmos. Along the way, various phenomena are encountered, and they must be cataloged. A grid appears, with a series of symbols underneath. Each of these represents the same symbol present in the grid, though those aren’t visible, yet. The grid will flash and show a split second of what’s present, and players must quickly drag from the bar below to fill up the grid with the correct symbols. As correct matches are made, a “peek timer” will also fill, allowing players to replay the flashes of the grid. The peek timer will deplete quickly, however, so managing it properly is key to winning…well, the key to winning outside of a great memory, that is. Singularities appear, and if players fail to avoid them while matching tiles, the game will end.

Firefell, Ltd. can be reached on the original forum post for questions and comments, and are present on both Twitter and Facebook with more screenshots and information about Memoreon. You can purchase the game on iTunes for $2.99 USD.
