Eradicate Eerie Spirits in Extreme Exorcism

Paranormal presences are plentiful in this petrifying platformer where players can show off their ghost-hunting prowess: Extreme Exorcism. Players take on the role of the exorcist Mae Barrons, whose not-so-conventional skills are called on when nothing else seems to remove the spirits from the haunted house. Mae is using her part-time job of hunting ghosts to pay for her Master’s degree. Also playable at the start is Mae’s best friend and a former gymnast, Ace; Mae’s older sister and a former army officer, Sylvia; and Mae’s rival, who also happens to be her sister’s girlfriend, Mikoto.

Extreme Exorcism offers ten different rooms to clear, and each room boasts its own twists and turns. From moving platforms and bouncing slime in the graveyard, to fire and angled platforms in the kitchen, players must fight and ghost-hunt their way to the altar where the boss awaits.

However, fear not, weary hunters, Extreme Exorcism offers a multitude of weapons for a wide variety of ghost-butt busting. Each weapon has its own perks and downsides. The sword can be swung above the player’s head and pass through barriers, but it causes the player to jump back, while the machine gun offers a quick burst of bullets, but the bullets don’t travel as far. Mae is capable of holding three weapons at one time, offering the player the chance for variety and planning for all situations.

As with any ghost hunting mystery, there’s a twist. With each round in the game, ghosts will mimic the players’ prior actions forcing them to compete against themselves and how they play. A big move in the first round may have helped the player against the swarms of ghosts, but it may come back and bite them in the following round.

In addition to the story mode, Extreme Exorcism has local multiplayer for up to four players, challenge mode for even tougher battles with specific rule setups, and a death match to see who has the best fighting skills. Players can check where they stand on the leaderboards to see who is the best ghost-busting brute.

Extreme Exorcism launches today, September 23, 2015, for PC/Mac, Playstation 3 and 4, Wii U, and Xbox One for $12.99 USD. For more ghost hunting glory, check out Golden Ruby Games on Twitter and “like” their page on Facebook.
