Don’t Let ‘The Escapists’ Escape You, Game Greenlit In Four Days

The gaming industry continues to grow and we now have almost a game for every situation and circumstance. However, there are still some lacking areas and Chris Davis, the developer of the successfully Kickstart-ed Spud’s Quest, has gone back to developing an entirely different game altogether to try and fill that void.

The Escapists is Davis’ next game and it focuses on prison life, allowing players to step into the shoes of a prison inmate. Players must go about the strict daily regime whilst looking for possible opportunities for escape.

The escape is the main focus and draw of The Escapists, but escaping from prison is no simple task, as prisons are specifically designed to make escape nearly impossible. It’s a great idea and one I’m surprised has not been done much before, as the situation does lend itself to a video game rather nicely.

The game will, of course, include many interesting features such as a crafting system allowing players to put together weapons and tools in a hope that they can assist in the escape attempt. A full reputation system that will consistently shift as players interact with inmates and guards inevitably decided how they treat the player.

The Escapists is currently on Kickstarter and at just over halfway to its modest £3,000 ($4,800) funding goal with 29 days to go the project does look highly likely to reach the finish line. Yesterday, The Escapists was one of the 100 games Greenlit for Steam, making it on to the list just four days after being submitted into the system.

If you have always wanted to escape from prison but don’t fancy the hard time now is your chance to give it a go! You can find out more on the Kickstarter page and if you like what you read consider backing the game. You can also visit the games site for more information.
