Combat Air Patrol 2 Flies Towards Early Access

The developers from Sim155 recently announced their plans to launch Combat Air Patrol 2 through Steam Early Access sometime in late September. The England-based developers are planning to use player feedback to refine specific gameplay elements in an effort to provide a more robust and enjoyable title. The studio also announced plans for a KickStarter campaign, scheduled to begin within the coming weeks.

Combat Air Patrol 2 is a flight and naval combat simulator where players are strapped right into the cockpit of an AV8B Harrier II. After completing basic flight training, the game pins players up against a barrage of land, ocean, and air-based enemies set in the Straits of Hormuz, off the coast of the Persian Gulf. Destroying foes tests both a player’s skills as a pilot and their tactical alertness.

The game allows players to chose from 3 primary main game modes: Campaign, naval simulation, and multiplayer. Campaign mode gives players the freedom to complete a wide variety of missions, while the naval simulation gives them the ability to transit civilian cargo to and from various ports. Multiplayer mode provides the opportunity to either play co-op missions or go head-to-head in fleet vs. fleet scenarios. Sim155 also plans to offer a virtual reality mode for both the Oculus and HTC’s Vive in the future.

Combat Air Patrol 2 was recently Greenlit, and will be available for PC, Mac, and Linux. To follow the game’s progress, check out the official website, Twitter, and Facebook pages.
