Sudoku has long been the go-to puzzle of choice for many enthusiasts – both electronically and with pencil and paper. Now, game developer Netherscene has given the game a bright face lift, breathing fresh life into the beloved standby.
The basic rules of sudoku are pretty well understood: you have a grid formed from nine smaller grids, each with nine squares. You must write the digits one through nine in the squares in such a way that the same number never appears twice in the same column, line, or smaller grid. The puzzle starts with a few numbers already positioned.
Colour Sudoku has this as its core premise, but as the name suggests, the numbers have been replaced by swatches of color. Avoid repeating the same color twice, and slowly construct your own piece of Mondrian art while you puzzle out the solution. Work your way through 18 different puzzles on three difficulty settings. Match wits with the game to unlock 162 achievements.
The game is available to try for free through a Facebook app and is compatible with both PC and Mac. Challenge friends and strangers alike by puzzling your way to the top of the online leaderboards and unlocking exclusive online achievements. Netherscene promises that Colour Sudoku is “quick to pick up, but hard to put down,” and invites you to treat yourself to “hours and hours of great puzzle gameplay.”
