Bierzerkers Features a Valhalla Worth Drinking To

Shield Break Studios (an indie conglomeration filled with veterans of Blizzard Entertainment, Riot Games, Activision, NCSoft, and Certain Affinity) just released the debut trailer for their very first game as a team, titled Bierzerkers, full of vikings having a rip-roaring good time. The team-based multiplayer melee combat game takes place in a modified Viking afterlife known as Brewhalla, and the activities are about what would be expected of such a moniker: Fighting, drinking, and plenty of intoxicated shenanigans are all on the to-do list.

In the same vein as games like Team Fortress 2Bierzerkers allows players to choose a character class with unique abilities, combining these skills with other players to form brutal teams in arcade-style combat. While Bierzerkers should be easy enough for beginners, Shield Break is including a high skill cap so that dedicated players can continue to reap rewards without getting bored. Built in Unreal 4, this game takes place in a number of mythical environments, allowing for varied gameplay. The Early Access release on Steam (for PC) will allow players to give feedback and impact the future of Bierzerkers, making way for improvements in Brewhalla.

Bierzerkers will be available on Steam Early Access on July 9, 2015. Those interested can follow along on Twitter and Facebook to see additional screenshots and information. IGM’s August issue will feature a preview of Bierzerkers, so be on the lookout for that when it goes on sale August 1 as well.
