Average Giants Episode 56 – Crawl & Parallax

IGM Presents… The Average Giants! A weekly webseries where we play indie games while chatting with their developers. Come watch (and “follow”) the show live on our hitbox channel every Monday night at 9:00pm EDT.

This week, our boys get down and dirty with the nitty gritty, couch competitive Crawla dungeon crawler all about trying to survive by screwing over your friends.

A local multiplayer that’s fast, intense and extremely competitive, in Crawl you take the role of a spirit haunting a dungeon who’s able to summon creatures to fight as, and also possess traps in an effort to kill a wayward adventurer. That adventurer is another player, and their job is to defeat enough monsters to gain loot, level up, and eventually defeat the boss of the dungeon to earn their freedom.

The twist is that if you manage to kill the adventurer, you take his humanity and become the adventurer yourself, damning the old adventurer to the same spiritual existence you suffered. This makes a perfectly balanced back and forth tug-of-war, to see which friend will live and which will be consumed in the end!

Then take a load off and enjoy the stunning visuals of Parallax, a dimension bending, mind-warping first-person puzzle game that’s sure to leave you dizzy. Who knew that using only two colors would make a game so complex and in-depth? Follow along with the Giants as they try to find their way through some of the most intricate puzzles they’ve had on the show thus far!
