Ashen Rift is the tale of a man and his dog, surviving and pushing in a world far beyond its collapse. Earth has fallen to the mercy of a portal known as the Rift. For over a decade, the portal has released monstrous creatures which have devoured Earth’s inhabitants.
Ashen Rift vaguely gives off a Half-Life 2 vibe – a grounded realism in a fading world. The atmosphere gives a sense that there are stories etched in the environment, from people and characters you’ll never meet or know. It’s that sense of a past world that gives Ashen Rift an eerie, but captivating vibe.
The eyeless creatures with protruding teeth, known as Feeders, move and react with an animalistic approach – weaving and juking while they chase after you. You and your canine companion will be put in situations that you’ll be forced to adapt to in order to survive. The vacant ashen world of Ashen Rift is also destructible, and can be used to your advantage when fending off Feeders
Development studio Pyroclastic Entertainment is comprised of veterans in the game industry, together spanning over 40 years of experience. They’re seeking $80K on Kickstarter for Ashen Rift, which is planned to be released on PC, Mac, Linux, and PS4.
