‘Angry Birds’ Sequel Is Not What You Think

When one thought Rovio couldn’t capitalize more on their iconic slingshot puzzle game involving multicolored birds and green pigs, the Finnish developer recently announced last week the release date of a sequel to the Angry Birds franchise; Bad Piggies. However, Rovio isn’t taking its usual route with game play mechanics and story as they did with their viral hit in 2009. According to Rovio CEO Mikael Hed in a press release, this follow up of the well-known series is going to allow users, “…to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes.”

Around 1 billion mobile app users have joined the plight in retaking back the birds’ eggs from the seemingly innocent green pigs, so some may wonder; why the change in scenery? Hed adds that Bad Piggies was an answer for a question that countless dedicated users have often asked his team, “…what about the pigs’ side of the story?”. The upcoming title is slated to follow the mischievous lives of the green pigs in their plot to steal away the tasty eggs of the birds once more. Users will have to aid these lovable pillaging pirates across the desert to build contraptions and vehicles in order to achieve their destination and simultaneously allow Angry Birds to fluidly pick off.

Rovio officially announced for the game to be released this month on September 27 for the low, low price of $.99 for iOS, Android, PC, and Mac users with Windows phones and others to follow suit. Keep up with IGM for more Bad Piggies news and  a daily fix of new and upcoming mobile apps.
